snow and female vocalists

Hey, it's all pretty and snowy here. Just a thin layer that sparkles and looks powdery, not too slippery, not too hard to scrape off the car, kind of cosmetic precipitation really. I like it.

Been listening to the new Kate Bush CD and I'm afraid it is failing to grab me. The aural equivalent of being surrounded by feathers, quite pleasant, but neither necessary nor fun for very long.
Maybe it will grow on me? Went back to PJHarvey and Blondie instead. I like punky girls. I see that Planet Sound like Girls Aloud's single, the sickness is spreading!

I've never been that fond of female vocalists as a whole. Not by conscious choice, just realisation as most of my cd/record collection features male vocalists. Neither like nor dislike Ms Bush but definitely prefer a gruff/gravelly but kind of tuneful male voice. Is this a girl thing? Do men prefer female vocals? Do any women like Natalie Imbruglia???

as an ex radical feminist, I always think that I should like lots of female vocalists, but I really only like about 5 (Siouxsie, Sandy Denny, PJHarvey, Debbie Harry and Julianne Reagan). I bought Ms Bush for lovely husband, he likes lots of girlies including Gwen Stefani so maybe it is just a boy like girl, girl like boy thing. My pantheon of male vocalists tend to be growly too. Who are your current faves?

Got the Hard-Fi cd for xmas which I like lots, Freya is big into the Kaiser Chiefs so have had to be into them! I've not really had the leisure i used to have for getting into new cds but I have been liking some of the newest wave of indie bands like 9 black alps and suchlike. To be honest, between Freya and Stu it's rare that i get to play any music of my own choice and then I've been going back to old faves like Muse and Placebo.
