You can learn a lot about someone by the music they listen to. Hit
shuffle on your iPod or mp3 player and write down the first 20 songs. No
cheating or skipping songs that are shameful. That is the fun!

I'd love to see yours if you felt like having a go :-)

1.And Dream Of Sheep - Kate Bush

2.The Sun Always Shines on TV - Aha

3.Twilight Home - Justin Sullivan

4. Red Right Hand - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

first showing for Mr Cave, pretty much a greatest hits of my iPod so far

5. Bring on the Dancing Horses - Echo And The Bunnymen

6.Cities In Dust - Siouxsie & the Banshees

7.It's No Good - Depeche Mode

I do have music produced this century, somewhere on here, honest

8. Cuts You Up - Peter Murphy

9.Noah - Dvendra Banhart

10.I Wanna be Adored - The Stone Roses

11.The Big Sleep - Bat for Lashes (featuring Scott Walker)

12.Bat's Mouth - Bat for Lashes

ah like my original iPod it likes to play 2 in a row by the same artist, it persisted for 5 Bob Dylan, although 2 were covers of his songs, interesting

13.Concrete Walls - Fever Ray

14.Take This Longing - Leonard Cohen

15.Shelter from the Storm - Bob Dylan

16.Hope There's Someone - Antony & the Johnsons

17.Moon and Moon - Bat For Lashes
has the spirit of Natasha Khan invaded my iPod, should I call an exorcist?

18.Ashes to Ashes - David Bowie

19.Feel It - Kate Bush

20.Lilac Wine - Jeff Buckley

Why doesn't it like any of my new music? 6151 songs and 3 by an artist I have 2 albums by? Strange, I'll have to keep an eye on it.

Internet research wolf is feeling somewhat wearied but refers you comments made about the nature of randomisation in previous entries! Not much particularly goth in that list though, perhaps your new iPod is suspicious of subculture?

well it is silver not black so maybe that is why it is not very goth.

Hm, my laptop is silver and black, perhaps this is why I can't seem decide what I wants to listen to right now?

maybe, we should get ones with cobwebs and skulls on to be more goth.

I have put four squirrels in darkly hooded robes to stand at each corner of my laptop holding a flaming torch. Hopefully that should do the trick. :)

Ha, it must have read your comments, today in the car, my new iPod, on shuffle, played 5 Sisters of Mercy tracks in a row, keeping it old school (although not Goth obviously as Mr Eldritch said).

By the way, do you think that the crosswords in the Weekend Guardian over Christmas were a bit easy? I managed to complete 2 of them with only minimal help. Have a relaxing day.

Well it's good to know that these devices are paying attention, or quite possibly, terrifying. When was Skynet supposed to develop sentience again? Not that I can imagine Apple raising a robot army to wipe out humankind however, that would entirely alienate the customer base. In fairness though the random top 20 has its share of 'we're not in the least bit goth' bands. Perhaps your ipod is in denial and just needs to find itself a more supportive peer group? I've seen the way Macs point and sneer at all those other computers. :P

I fear I didn't really get to look at the papers over Christmas but having just looked at the Saturday (24th and 31st) ones on the web, there were still one or two clues I found tricksy. Off hand I didn't know the popes ambassador was a Nuncio for the 24th and on the 31st Obloquy is not a word that comes to me easily, but then a word like zonal seems rather American and wrong if you ask me! Is my excuse anyways. Hopes all is well with you!

indeed, Nuncio was solved for me by public school educated brother-in-law, they learn about such things there apparently.

I think Apple is taking over the world by stealth and with honey rather than vinegar, but I should probably not mention that I've noticed!

I am pondering whether to buy the Sunday Express because a friend has written an article celebrating David Bowie's birthday in it today, but I think I'd have to burn the rest of the paper so it didn't pollute our house.
