The book, leaving behind a
Small piece of my heart.
Well, that was how I felt last night before I went to sleep, I'm happier now. Still, it is a while since I read an author whose characters are so appealing that I actually miss them when I finish a book. It's cool. It does lead to a post-book come down, but I think it's worth it.
We watched Dark Knight over the weekend. There were great performances in it, but it was such a miserable film overall, I don't think I can say I enjoyed it. It was too long and made me feel sad about Heath. However, it was a great deal better than Monsters v Aliens which we saw at the cinema on Sunday. Even Hugh Laurie voicing a genius cockroach couldn't save it for me. After the pleasures of Inkheart (did you know the author had Brendan Fraser in mind when she wrote the character, isn't that cool?) and prettiness of The Secrets of Moonacre it was a let down.
I've still got sand in my shoes from the damp but lovely visit to Cornwall, the children are building a three headed dog out of Lego (The Horrible History series is a wonderful thing) and we've removed about a hundred dandelion flowers from around us in the hope that our garden won't become totally overrun with them. The sun is making everything grow though, so that's good.
